I need help find and installing a Electric choke on this 1977 Evinrude 115hp (115799s). The drawings I found for this motor doesn't match my motor. There are side intake flairs and I cant tell if the choke goes up or down. It is very tight. Does anyone have a motor similat to mine and how is you choke hooked up and what choke do you have< I have included drawing so you can see my motor. CAM00208.jpgCAM00207.jpgCAM00206.jpg

It would help if you took the plastic side intake off to get a clear view.

I look at drawing but where they have the choke attaching my motor is different, they show a place to bolt on a choke I have a flair intake, I verified on the side of my motor the model

Something is very much out of whack! The 1976/77 115hp engine have a smaller all metal carburetor face cover that incorporates a metal clamp that holds the choke solenoid in the upward position and the choke butterfly rod having the extended protrusion on the top carburetor.... the proper choke rod on your engine is on the bottom carburetor.

The 1978 V4 engine have the metal/plastic type faceplate with the plastic side extensions, and the choke solenoid is attached upside down to the top portion of the faceplate so that it hooks onto the top carburetor choke rod.

However, in both cases, the choke butterfly rod with that protruding piece that the solenoid would hook onto is on the wrong (bottom) carburetor.

Either the wrong carburetors are on that engine or someone has had them completely torn down (not likely) to a point whereas the butterfly retaining rods have all been removed... and to tear a carburetor down to that point as I stated... that's not likely.

I'll see if I can dig up and scan and enter here both choke setups to give you a idea of what I'm speaking of sometime tomorrow.

I wounder if someone hase changed the air silencer base on your engine. The choke solenoid looks like it should attach the the base.
Your base has a sort of vent on top and the one in the parts breakdown does not.
I wounder if your base is off of an engine the has the primer system instead of a choke solenoid?

I research and motors with a different silencer that the choke was downward. The silencer have an extra bracket on top to hold choke. The rest have choke attached on the side with choke point up as it shows in my engines diagram. There is a place to attach on the drawing for my motor but on my motor there is a side intake and nowhere to attach. I have unable to find engine like mine with an electric choke so i can see how they mounted it and what choked they used. I agree someone made changes to this motor. Its a project boat and someone really stripped ot down to the bone and I am returnig it to original shape.

It looks like to get it right you are going to have to buy the correct parts to correct your engine.

Here are graphics of the 1976/1977 choke setup and also of the 1978/79 setup, neither of which has the choke butterfly rod on the bottom carburetor as per your engine.

I see a silencer on Ebay for the 78/79 setup. From the look of my motor does that look like it will work on mine

What would it take to put a primer system on this motor

New intake with the primer connections, solenoid, plumbing and electrical system. I think that's all you would need.
