Electric Fuel pump

So after finding out I have a cracked block from freezing over the winter (whole other story), i would like to remove the 45 gallons of fresh 93 octane gas from my boat. I was thinking I could pump it out using the electric fuel pump. I turn the key on and nothing.. What would keep the fuel pump from working? does the engine have to turn over to engage the oil pressure sensor? any suggestions?

My boat is a 2004 Tahoe 204 with a 4.3 L V6 mercruiser alpha 1.

Its not hard to bypass and hardwire the pump. Just don't let it run dry or you are going to be wishing you didn't ruin your expensive pump.

I would just buy an electric pump from the auto parts store and wire in a switch that you can flip on and off easily.

Slightly off topic, but your boat does not require 93 octane. Gas is expensive enough, why pay even more???

Also, the electric pumps should only be momentary on and not a constant on when the key is on. They are only needed to pressurize the fuel system and then shut off when pressure is reached. If not, there could be a fuel leak and the pump would just empty the tank into the bilge. Somewhat of a safety hazard. I've even seen some that only activate when the key is in the 'start' position.
