electric / primer dosent work electrically

1983 115 johnson. Rebuilt the carbs put it all back together runs great but now the primer won't work with the ignition key have to prime manually. when it worked i could hear a click now i hear nonthing and was wondering if i hooked up a wire on the primer/choke wrong or if its just bad timing on a failed part .Any help would be greatly appericiated thanks again.

as long as you know its grounded,bring positive to the purple white stripe,listen for the click,if you hear click,check all connections at switch especially the pu.white,check the big harness plug,

after closer examination the ground wire was touching the purp and white that might be why the 25 amp fuse was blown still no clicking no electric primer working i'll put power to the purp and see if i get a click

check the ground wire on the primer solenoid.

You can also check the solenoid by doing a resistance check if you have a volt ohm meter. Set the meter to a low ohms scale. Unscrew the two wires on the solenoid and connect the two leads of the meter to the corresponding wire. From memory, you should get around 4 ohms.

Im having a simialar problem. When mine is pluged in it clicks but the engine wont start. If I unpluge it the engine fires right up. I dont understand it.
