electric shift trouble

72 65hp evirude electric shift The trouble happened all of a sudden if I pushed the button for the forward gear it would take about 20 sec. before it engaged and if I would shift into nuetral it would also lag I have no idea what the problem is an boat mech. said that maybe changing the lower unit oil,not sure on the whole deal.. Help would be gratefull

this foot uses a different oil . it is lightweight . this foot has a pump like an automatic transmishion . the screen could need cleaning . change the foot oil . someone might have put the 90 weight in it . you can git the proper oil at a omc dealer . email me and i will send you a pick of that foot. papasage10@yahoo.com

yeah i went out and find the right kind of oil for this yr engine and its electric shift I've yet to replace it and thanks again for the help
