electric start

I would like to switch my pull start to electric start and put on a charging system Thinking this is a 1967 20hp johnson can this be done? thanks for any advise

Making it electric start is not difficult. But makeing it charge is. You would have to fit a completely different ignition system and flywheel.<br />For electric start, you need the starter, the braket to hold the starter, a solenoid, and a toothed flywheel if yours isn't. You can probably find all the parts you need at one of these places:<br /> Marine Parts Outlet<br />Twin City Outboards<br /><br />Also, try to find your local outboard junkyard. The starter and flywheel are pretty heavy and are expensive to ship.
