I just purchased a 1986 Mercury 35 hp long shaft outboard with pull start. Can electric start be added to this engine? If so what parts are involved and any idea on cost. With the engine housing off there looks to be a spot where a starter motor would sit.
thanks

Re: electric start

You probably would pay about what you paid for the motor to have it converted by a dealer with new parts.

Thanks!! Any idea what this motor is worth. Seems to run fine the guy I bought it from bought it new. He bought a new Honda. I paid $525.00 for it. Pretty clean.

Sorry, I think it might be closer to 2X-3X what you paid. But that's just a guess.

There is nadaguides.com but motors usually go for more than the amount they quote.
