electric start

Hi I would like to find out what the difference is in starter solenoids, I'm about to change my 67 20 hp johnson over to electric start. iboats has 2 different solenoids 1 for 18hp & 1 for the 20hp 18hp is for older motors the 20 is for newer ones, will either solenoid work for this? Thanks for any help Guys

I would say that they are of different amperage. Not for sure.

Jim,<br />Generally I find Mercury has similar solenoids that would interchange,but are probably different amp.Johnson/Evinrude,on the otherhand,makes fewer solenoids,and the way they bolt onto the engine differs.Obviously use the one called for.<br /><br />DHP
