I have a 1983 35 hp Johnson J 35 RCTS. Pull start. Can I add an electric starter and what do I need? Not worried about trickle charging back to battery just the initial start up. Thanks in advance for your time and response.

you will need starter, bracket, solonoid, cables, and a toothed flywheel if your's did not come with one.

Yea, you're lucky to have the toothed flywheel on that model/year, pricey$$. Locating a starter/bracket is the hardest part, but they show-up on ebay fairly often. I found one for my motor. Don't hold your breath for a parts motor.
Anyway, I bet you can get all done for $100-200. I plan to keep my motor for a long time, but it's probably not worth it if you plan to sell. Good luck.

Thank you very much. I'll begin my search for bracket and starter.
