Re: electric tilt motor toast

I'm sorry, I miswrote. My TRIM motor is bad. That is the one that tilts the whole mess. Forgive me as I'm a little green to the boating world.

Well, if you are sure... that would be an EBay or boneyard item, unless you have a local Alternator/DC Motor repair shop that will look at it.

Re: electric tilt motor toast

So your talking about the Trim motor on the front of the engine that raises and lowers the front engine mount. This motor controlled by up down switch on the throttle handle. If so pull back the boot and grease the jack screw, also grease the zert fitting on the motor. Check the 2 50 amp fuses and check the solenoids.

Or are you talking about the Tilt motor that raises the outdrive. Controlled by a switch on your dash. This also controled by the two 50 amp fuses and two solenoids, motor it self, clutch pack, and outdive pivot pins.

You'll notice that J1171 on many marine electrical parts. It's a Society of Automotive Engineers Spec number for Marine Explosion resistant electrical parts, not the part number...

IT IS THE TRIM MOTOR UNDER THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. MARINE STORE SAYS NEW ONE 200 BONES, I THINK IM GOING TO SEE IF IT CAN BE REBUILT FOR LESS. LOOKS LIKE IT GOT WET AT SOME POINT IN TIME.
