while taking out the gargabe this evening, i heard a strange noise from my new, but used boat. upon further investigation i found that the trim motor was engaged, by itself, to full down position. fiddeling with the tilt controls at the motor and cockpit did no go to stop it. its a 1998 90 hp evinrude. i ended up disconecting the 12 v under the motor case to keep the battery from running down. any ideas how to tell if a trim switch is bad, and which switch it might be?..thanks

Re: electric tilt/trim

A simple test would be to simply disconnect the hot wire from the PTT switch, one at a time.
