Hey Guys,

You all have been extremely helpful, and so now I come in need of your help again. I have a 1976 1500 150 HP Outboard Merc. The starter switch within the Merc Controler has been disconnected. The connectors on the switch are marked 1-5, but I just dont know which wires go where on the switch. Does anyone know what the color coding is for this particular switch. Again as always thanks for all of your great advice in advance.

Mike

Hi, Mike.

I don't have an answer for you, but I think you will be more likely to find one on Outboard Questions.

I'll move this there for you.

Re: Electrical Help Needed

I have looked through all my drawings, and even went out and tore down a Mercontrol that I have and I did not see any numbers, just letters. Make sure that is the factory switch.

You can figure it out with an ohm meter. You know one terminal is 12vdc (red wire), one is ground (black wire), one is start(red & blue or red and yellow), one is kill(black & yellow), and one is for accessories (hot with switch on).

c/6

Hooty

Re: Electrical Help Needed

Sorry Guys, It does have letters not numbers. So with thanks to you all, especially Hooty, I will hopefully be able to figure out which wire goes to which letter. Some of the letters may have 2 different wires connecting to it, right? Again thanks to all.
Mike
