I have a 1996 Johnson 90 HP and was working on the tilt and trim gauge for the motor and turned on the key to see if the gauge was working andI heard something that sounded like a fuse blowing and now I turn the key on and nothing happens. The Tach does not move and the warning buzzer that used to go off every time the key is turned on do nothing and the tilt and trim and the motor does not turn over chock will not work eather.
Can anyone tell me if there is a fusable link or fuse somewhere on the motor? I have tried 3 differnt Batteries and nothing. Please any help

Re: Electrical Issue

there's a 20amp fuse in an inline fuse holder on the port side of the engine - in the red wire leading from the starter solenoid to the big red harness plug.

Re: Electrical Issue

It will be an automotive type fuse.....flat with two prongs. Located on the port side of the engine I believe. Usually there is also a spare fuse holder with a fuse in it so make sure you check the right fuse.

Re: Electrical Issue

The one that would be blown is on the positive line from the engine to the control, as described by OBJ.

Find the starter motor, follow the big red wire to the solenoid, look on the other side of the solenoid and you will find the fuse in the holder with the red wire.
