One test you can try is to measure dc voltage across battery terminals with engine idling. If it's 12.7 vdc or less, the rectifier may be bad. If it's 13.5 vdc or >, then the rectifier is OK. If you have a shop manual (to identify the terminals), measure the ac voltage to the recifier from the stator. If it's > 18 vac, then the rectifier is almost certainly bad, if it's dc out is < 12.7 vdc.
