Electrical question on 5hp. Force

I hope one of the many brains out here can give me an answer on this question!Here we go_On a 1989,5 hp.Force,ser# 1514 ,there is a safety kill switch.How many volts are running through this switch when motor is running,and what would i have to do to use this to charge my trolling motor battery(12volt)if at all possible? :confused: <br /><br />MTH-54 Pink at night sailors delight,Pink in the morning sailors take warning! ;)

It's whatever ignition primary voltage is. If you have to know, measure the low voltage side of a coil w/ engine running. Can you use this to charge a battery? NO! The reasons are several. First the voltage varies w/ RPM and more importantly, the current developed would not be sufficient to charge a battery. There ain't no free lunch!
