GFI = Ground Fault Interrupter = GFCI = Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, RCD = Residual Current Device.<br />Most GFCI (GFI) are Class A type and trip at a current level of 0.006 Amps. A typical RCD trips at 0.030 Amps. The RCD does not require electronics to work, instead it uses the fault current for energy at the expense of a higher fault level. (Other GFCI class levels exist for equipment protection rather than personal protection.)
