Hi I have an old Chris Craft with two 350 chevys. counter rotating. I think they are 1991 model blocks, they have mallory distributors, with the flat cap. Those have been giving me trouble and seem to be expensive parts, (and still finicky) I have been highly reccomended to get elecronic distributors for both motors. I have a McDurmon catalog and found a magnetic pickup conversion for the same dist. for $60 each. They use the same cap and coil though, I hear those caps are 50 bucks a pop. What do you reccomend for an electronic dist??ThanksCraig

Re: Electronic distributor..

I may be wrong, but I think you can use the "regular" marine type of cap on those distributors if you so desire.. I think those caps are for engines with engine compartment clearance issuse... I dunno?

If your still runing poinst type distributors, Pull the distributors out, completely dis-assembly and thuroly clean them with solvent, install new advance springs and any other parts that are worn out (weights, bushings, ect.), install new points and condinser, points gapped to spec, new cap and rotor... Good as new and less $$$, I'll bet ya...
