Electronic fuel pump install pointers

Hi there. I recently installed a rebuilt ( by me ) later model Mercruiser Vortec style 350 into my boat. The previous engine was a 1989 Mercruiser 260hp with mechanical fuel pump. The new engine does not have the cam for the mechanical fuel pump so I have to go electric. I understand the oil pressure safety switch as well as needing a low pressure ( 5 or so PSI? ) fuel pump... Is there a pressure regulator in there? I have found a few posts here on the forums helpful but I thought I would try to get as much help as possible, being fuel and all! I have done extensive work on cars with EFI but that does not help much here! Thanks

no pressure reglators, it`s all in the pump.

Thanks. Do you recommend any particular make/model pump?

I have a 97 4.3 LX and I put a Mallory fuel pump in. Good price and good product.

My OEM pump number was 805656-1 so i replaced t with a Mallory 9-35428. It was a perfect fit and a quick job. My problem actually ended up being a combination of my anti-siphon valve at the tank and the fuel pump. Let's just say I know my fuel system real real well now!
