Electronic ignition conversion questions. 83 Mercruiser 3.0 *Disregard*

I'm converting my 83 3.0 to electronic ignition and have a question regarding the coil, and resistance.

I purchased the Sierra kit. It states in the instructions, that a four cyl requires a minimum of 3.0 ohms of resistance.

The coil on my boat now, says "External resistor required" but I see no ballast resistor anywhere in the wiring. I know sometimes, it's done with a resistance wire, but how do I know?

The instructions show a wiring diagram for wiring the ignitor system without a ballast resistor, as well as a diagram with a resistor. Should I just use the "without ballast resistor" diagram? Should I swap out the coil for one that has an internal resistor?

It looks to me like the Sierra ignitor is made by Pertronix, (same logo in instructions) and I found a tech service number on the web. I guess I could call them tomorrow, and see what they have to say, but it's not business hours ...and y'all are here now, so to speak. :)

I just don't want to wire it wrong, and burn it up.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Disregard....I figured it out.

I ran a hotwire from the "ign" pole on the switch, straight to the igniter, and left the resistor wire as it was going to the coil.

Runs fine in the yard.....we'll see how she does when we get to the water.

Thanks
