Now that I've got my timing dialed in, I started thinking about switching to EI. What do you guys think? If it ain't broke, don't fix it? Is EI the way to go? If so, is Pertronix the only way to go? How about Hot-spark? Is EI as reliable as points?

Thanks guys! Iboats forum rocks!

Re: Electronic Ignition

My second season with Pertronix, and no problems or worries about starting.
My son and family live in Westminster we plan to visit next month, a beautiful place!

Re: Electronic Ignition

I have the Pertronix Ignitor II with a Flamethrower coil on my Merc/Ford 302. Works great. Been in there for about 4 years. Never missed a beat so far. I say go for it.

Points haven't been used in cars for over 30 years. That's gotta say something.

Re: Electronic Ignition

I'm another happy Pertronix user. Very reliable starting and operation.
