I have a newly rebuilt 50 hp Evinrude 86' or 88'. I took it out twice and put her up. Went back, charged the battery and it wont do a thing. Could this be the cylinoid. It won't even click when kay is turned. Any one have any ideas?

First thing to check is all the connections from the battery to the motor. Make sure the cable at the selenoid and engine ground are clean and tight. Also, check the fuse under the motor hood. Should be in a red connector on the port side by the starter.

Make sure you have a good, fully charged battery.

After inspecting the cables & connections...with a multimeter, measure the voltage from the solenoid small pos terminal (I think it has a red or red/yellow wire) to ground, with the key turned to start. 12 volts = bad solenoid, 0 volts = control box neutral start switch, keyswitch, or wiring harness.

Might try jiggling the shift/throttle control.

Check the fuse in the wiring harness on the motor.

I keep hearing it could be the power pack. Would that make it not to even turn over?

No.......And once again:

Let us know what you find and we'll go from there....

As stated above, check for 12Vdc on the big RED cable going into the selenoid to big BLACK ground.
(Good charged battery will read high as 13.3Vdc)
If you don't have 12Vdc at Yellow/Red wire when the key is turned, you can bypass the key and Neutral switch........

Get a small length of wire and "touch" the RED (battery) input to the Yellow/RED on the SELENOID itself.
If it doesn't turn over, let us know.

Keep us posted....... I like solving electrical problems.

right...can't even think about testing the power pack until you get the starter to spin.
