I just installed a new impeller in a 1954/55 7.5 hp Elgin. I can get it to run but I don't know if there is a tell tale port. There is a brass plug that when removed water pumps out. I don't want to burn up the impeller. Should I see a stream of water somewhere? Thanks

There is water pumping out the little holes (7-10) on the exhaust shaft. This tells me the pump is working. I fear it may not be cooling the motor. I will take a video or photo of the brass plug I mentioned. Thank you

If thats the case your good. Put your hand in the spray and feel it. If its cool then your good. you can also put your finger on the head and see if its hot. Just looked at my West Bend manual and it doesnt exactly say where but the Scott manual said in the back. I know alot of motors sprayed out the exhaust ports before the tell tale

Yes! Thank you! I was lazy and didn't flush the tank. I like the old sediment bowl carbs. It runs fair now and has a good amount of water coming from the 14 little holes on the shaft. No part of the motor feels hot.
