I was hoping to finally test this thing on the lake this weekend but now it looks like it may rain for 4 or 5 days. In any case, I'm trying to put together a list of basic supplies to take with me in the boat as well as to have on shore in my vehicle. This will just be for pleasure boating in MN. What are the things you always take along? Here's what I'm thinking...

IN THE BOAT
- tow rope
- paddle
- my phone with built-in GPS
- fire extinguisher
- PFDs
- basic tool kit
- extra prop, shear pin, & cotter pins
- extra drain plug

ON SHORE
- extra fuel pump
- extra carburetor
- piece of fuel line and hose clamps
- gear oil for LU

Thanks!

Don't know what type of boat you have, or what kind of water you're in, but out in the salt we always carry an anchor (perhaps most important safety equipment), and a good first aid kit.

How about a dry box, or at least some ziploc bags for your phone, truck keys, wallet, etc. Sometimes you can get an unexpected storm that blows in, and it is nice to keep some of the valuables dry.

With the PFDs, first aid kit, phone, and tow rope...I think you're covered. Go have fun!
