Took her out today with timing light at idle I got her set at 8 degrees. Took her out today and I get 16 degrees more advanced. The 30 degree mark is on the tdc line on the timing cover. Should it be up on the 8 degrees advanced mark on the tab. Also I noticed when the secondarys come in if I put my hand over the butterfly's she runs and pulls great. If not it bogs down and slowly comes up on rpm. Like the secondarys are running lean. Again on the timing the the 30 degree mark is on the tdc line of the tab 22 degree mark is on the 8 degree advanced mark on the tab

First and always foremost "what are you working on?

If this is a V8 with a 22 degree module and initial timing is set a 8 BTDC, then yes it should go to 30 BTDC (8+22) at roms above 3000.

Putting the hand over choke and power increases, then it is running lean and carb needs adjusting/cleaning or you have a vacuum leak

It's a 89 larson. 305 thunderbolt 4 ignition have checked timing which is good. Checked filter st carb. Checked anti siphon valve replaced fuel water separator. Like I said put hand over carb it runs good. Also if I pull up on the two metering rods it pulls good to. Will a carb run that lean if they are dirty

Pulling up on the metering rods gives it more fuel, so carb needs adjusting
