I have a 1992 Merc 150xl outboard the oil alarm goes on and stays on when the motor is running. It is a beep beep it is not a steady beep. It does not beep until the motor is running. I turn the key to on it beeps twice and when i start the motor is keeps beeping. I have oil in the big tank and the little tank on the motor. I checked the float in the small tank its free. With the motor running I hold the float down and the beeps go away if I pick it up it starts beeping. Is there a float in the big tank also. I changed the alarm near the key switch and it still beeps. I also think I am overcharging I put a meter on the battery with the motor running is goes past 15 volts. my tach is going crazy also most likey form the over charging. I dont know what to do. could it be that the overcharging shorted out thr sending module. Thanks in advance for your help.
