Hi Folks!

Need a little help from you.. Ihave a bayliner -89 with 120hp outboard motor. The engine is currently attached straight to boats tail (?) with no extra support. Just 4 bolts straight trough the tail. Is this OK or should I assemble a aluminium or steel plate between the engine and boat? Might sound a little stupid but I am really new to these things. Boat is used in fresh water if that matters to this subject.

Thanks for your answers,
-jaba-

Re: Engine attaching

No, Jaba. The boat was designed as is, so unless you have any problems with the transom, there is no reason for reinforcement.

If you plan on putting extra stress on it or suspect rot, cracks or other damage to it, it os a different story. Then, again, a plate may not be sufficient...

Yeah- I guess you have good time before taking it out? Finland has a lot of nice lakes and waters but being rather up North the ice tends to keep :(

A good tune up & service on both motor and fittings, electrics and boat is a nice pass-time during winter/spring and will make boating an even greater pleasure!

A Bayliner with 120hp - that wouldn't happen to be a Force? A lot of Bayliner/Force combos were sold in Europe once upon a time...

Yeah, its a Force allright. the boat is a bit older than engine, engine is 1992. The guy who owned the boat before me wasnt too gung-ho to keep the boat fit. Ive done a lot, and a lot is to be done. The boat is my first, so everything isnt as clear as crystal.. This is a very awesome forum to ask from someone who knows these things.
thanks for your time,

-Jaba-

Keep a close eye on your wallet. An old 'Bayliner & Force' is not a collectors item and you may have a hard time keeping it's value at or even close to the money invested.
