Hello all.
I have a 1985 Beachcraft/Reinell cuddy cabin. Has anyone seen 4 separate engine bearers not riding on stringers? The old bearers had nothing between the wood and the hull and I am filling the void of the new ones with peanut butter.

Don't know about OMC drives, but on Mercruisers, all the thrust goes through the drive to the transom. The motor, in effect, just sits and spins. The rear of the motor is also mounted to the transom so that contains most of the engine torque. The front mounts seem to be mainly to support the front engine weight and for drive alignment. As long as the mounts are sound, they don't really need to be attached to stringers. Is it the best way? Probably not. What you are doing make a lot more sense to me.

All the pictures I come across of the omc stringer drive/ engines have the motor mounts riding in long glassed in 2X4's that span the length of the engine compartment. Well once I am done with this project it willl definatly be better than what was there. I have a ton of fiberglass and resin.LOL
