I have noticed that my 2000 150 h..p. Johnson seems to lose its prime at the bulb easily.Now I am dealing with a bogging and surging issue at different speeds-not quite a stall out but close.Looking for possible causes. Thank you Andy
Try priming it with motor off, how longs it hold prime for and if not long keep priming and see if you can work out where its leaking into/from.
It may be a loose connection back from the bulb towards the tank which is letting air in too
When you say loosing its prime, does the primer bulb empty, or do the carbs empty when running? If carbs run dry check for air leak between primer bulb and motor. Prime suspects are main strainer under the airbox, vapor pump cover gasket, vapor pump and of course, all fuel line fittings and clamps.
