engine bog

Just bought a 1988 celebrity with a 3.0 Mercruiser. The boat starts and idles good and will plane out good but after around 15-45 seconds it starts to bog and will die if you do not bring it back to an idle. We have cleaned the fuel tank, put in a new anti siphon, new fuel filters and checked the in tank pickup for any blockage. If we run the boat off of a auxiliary tank it will run perfectly fine. Any ideas?

Ayuh,.... You answered yer own question,....

Obviously, there's still a problem with the boat's fuel system,.... Crud in the tank, bad fuel line, whatever,.....

See if you can remove the suction tube out of the tank, sometime there is a tiny filter inside of the tube. As Bondo said the tank may be full of trash and it may have to come out.

Could be the suction side of the old fuel line is collapsing.

Took a look inside the tank it looks clean, replaced the pickup line and line going to the fuel filter. for the vent if i take the gas cap off that would bypass the vent right? if so i tried that
