The 150 engines were not equipped with one conventional lift pump but two. If you set it up with the two conventional lift pumps, you should not have a problem.

There is a VRO pump look-alike that is strictly a premix pump. You can run the 150 on one of those. Part Number 5007422.

I decided to follow your advice and just bypass the oil side of the vro and still use the fuel pump and just premix. I patched the crack on the oil side. The gas side still looked good. So I guess now I am just going to have to try it on the water and see how it does. I am also going to replace the water pump because I am sure it needs to be done as well. I will let you all know how things worked out.

TO BYPASS THE VRO-You can cut the oil hose 2-3 inches from the pump then plug it with anything that will fit and use a hose clamp to secure the plug. Also, disconnect the wires from the VRO to the wire harness as you'll get an alarm if you don't. Then premix 50:1! You DO NOT need another pump as you just bypassed the oil and the fuel pump will operate normally. If you've decided to just patch the leak, make sure you clean any oil and gas that may be on the surface to be repaired and scratch,sand or scuff the area with fine grit sandpaper or what ever it takes to ensure that the JB weld will stick. I did the same thing to my pump, JUST MAKE SURE YOU ALLOW 24 HOURS for the JB weld to set, or your leak will come back!!! Hope this helps.

Well I got out on the lake yesterday and it did the same thing. I am starting to believe that the issue lies within the spark. I pulled the spark cables where they connect at the engine and they looked corroded. Like a battery with corrosion would look. I am hoping that is the source of the problem and not something much worse.

I would examine the coils too, look for cracks in the black plastic potting material, its usually on the underside or back. Carefully remove one and turn it in your hands to examine. Has this engine been dunked?

Through all my trials and tribulations and much frustration, I finally decided to go and change out the spark cables at a local marine. I took a couple in for length to reference and when I had the person there look at the cables from the boat turns out that the last owner used car spark plug cables on the boat. I am not very mechanical and new to working on boats, so I didn't know that the cables that were on there were compression cables and not meant for a boat. So I bought replacement kits for each cable which arer solid core exchanged them out and took the boat out. The boat started out initially doing the same thing. After running it a little bit it ran great all day long. I believe that it had to burn off some of the corrosion on the plugs and some of the grease and then it was up and going. Thank you everyone for your help. I learned much through out this and will no doubt be prepared for things to come.
