.... The rest of the automotive EFI components are all completely ignition proof by their very nature.

....
Well, yes, but...
Automotive FI parts are not Coast guard approved. If anything happens and an insurance claim is involved, be prepared for them to deny it on the basis of you modifying the drive in an unapproved manner.

Its probably obvious, but instead of building the heck out of the V6, and still not hitting your goal, or getting close but have terrible planing issues, consider a "lightly" built 350. A 350 marine vortec 4brl will get you 280hp at prop. I am sure a 21' boat had V8 options so the hull should handle it.

Why not put a 350 or at least a 305 in there...Its not that expensive. A v6 in a 21 ft is a dog, I don't care what cam you put in it.

Well.. I don't know if 55 mph is a DOG....

I think I'm going to leave my cam as it is, from the sounds of it, I can't go too much hotter without modifying my exhaust and my valve-train.

I'm been toying with the idea of getting a newer LS-1 based truck motor and going from there... IF I were to spend 300 bucks on my my motor to get a new cam and another 300 to make it work, I might as well go buy a used low milage 5.3L all aluminum truck motor for 600 bucks (those things last forever and are availible everywhere)

Then I could get ahold of some manifolds and marine starter, etc etc.

Probably be too much mojo for my alpha-1 leg though

Probably will not find any Marine exhaust for a 5.3l

yeah, the manifolds are out there... Same engine as the new gm/mercruiser. Same manifold bolt pattern as LS1

GM made those bottome ends bullet-proof. As a result, there is no demand for those engines. Peole are crashing the trucks, but nobody is blowing their motors. Supply = high, demand = Low

That's news to me. Which model would that be?
