I have a 21', 1988 Bayliner Trophy with cuddy cabin. It has a hard top and is in very good condition. Currently the engine is a 3.0L GM and I have been thinking about changing it. Does anyone know what will go in there? And, what do you recommend?

Re: Engine Change

Ben it will COST! Unless you remove it from another boat. Your going to need manifolds, brackets, and most likely modify the floor/stringers for the bigger engine. Most times its not worth the money unless you have deep pockets. Also will have to change the gearing in the outdrive.

Re: Engine Change

BMDODGE; Do I detect a bit of sarcasm there? I'll have you know that at WOT I can almost leave a wake; I can speed through a NO-WAKE zone and the folks dock-side don't notice the difference! That's why I was cornsidering a different engine.

Got it!! I'm especially fond of the feedback that reads;<br />"Once you get passed Destroying a Perfectly Good Running Boat,"...that warms the cockles of my heart. I think I'll keep what I got, cause I ain't got the money (or the heart) to tear up another boat for this one.

Re: Engine Change

charleswmoore; thanks for the info. I think I talked myself out of the engine change, with a little help from my friends here, butI went to this site and did some reading; all Bayliner enthusiasts there and some have made pretty neat and often off-the-wall comments (that's not an insult). It's an excellent site, and I thank you again for the post.
