Hello everyone,

I'm new to the site. I actually just bought the boat. It's an oldie, 1988 19' Angler with 1996 Mercury Mariner outboard. Took it out with the current owner and motor starts right up. It's a 125hp. Felt very smooth. I gave him a half the money and took it home and will pay off by next month, I know the guy. Price was $2,500 with trailer. Everything else on the boat is great seeing as it is a 20 yr old boat. Stringers are good too. No stress cracks visible on lower hull. Some tiny ones on floor of deck.

Now, I checked the engine compression and it was as follows: 140-125-120-130

Should I be concerned?

It look good, number 1 apparently has a little carbon build up and thats not uncommon in 2 cycle engines.

Actually, I redid it because I read that the engine needs to be warm or in operational temperature.

From the bottom up; 145-139-135-140

It seems better now right?

Those #'s are ok. Run some sea foam thru it to clean it up a bit also. Hundreds of posts on here about it..
