I am picking up my new long block soon. When i pull the old engine is there a visual inspection for the coupler? What am i looking for? I am wondering how often they need replacement? I don't want to do it if i don't need to. Its a 2000 VP 5.7 GSI PEFS. I have only had it about a year but when i got it i checked alignment and it was very close. Took very little to get it right. I don't want to replace everything if i don't need to.
I think i will have a look at the rear mounts as well.

If rubber and splines look good, reinstall and go boating. The coupler will last the life of the boat and then some if alignment is maintained
