Hey guys, I am rebuilding my '76 115etl Johnson and I was thinking about painting the engine cover. Is there a source for the original style decals and such to give it that factory fresh look?

Thanks,
Newt

Re: Engine Cover Decals

I did a Google search and came across:

www.cutnupvinly.com

This guys seems to make every decal out there. If you can give him a picture and some measurements he can recreate it. We have gone back and forth on my decal design. I am taking a little artistic freedom with colors and layout, so he is customizing mine. But the decals are around $50 shipped, some are more some are less depending on the amount of time and material it takes to assemble.

I can't give his product a glowing recommendation yet, but if my motor turns out like the pictures on his website I will be one of his faithful supporters.

I did my 76 200hp with newer style decals, it came to about $15.00 for all of them, I got them from a local dealer. They fit perfect and with the new paint, everybody thinks it's almost new. Not good if you want that original though.

Re: Engine Cover Decals

Years ago in 98 I had a Johnson 150 Ficht. One day I bounced the engine cover onto the ground. When I got it back from the friendly neighbourhood fibreglass repair place I didn't replace the decals. It got lots of attention at the ramp and at the dock as the 'mystery engine' I was going to redecal it as a 135, just to p*** off other 150 owners who's boats would not be to out run a smaller motor
