I have an allegedly 1969 K&C Thermoglass 17.5 bowrider and OMC power (GM I4 120hp)

On the block, there is the casting 1-17-71.

Could this be the date it was cast? (therefore indicating it was repowered at some point)
I can't imagine they would cast an actual day in the block - maybe a year or month/year but month/day/year?

Any ideas?

Mine is stamped 11-13-80 in a 1981 Cobia. Why not, makes it easy to tell what year it is!

interesting...I guess maybe it is the date. Just seems funny as they would have to change the casting mold every day - even in 1969 I don't see why they would go to that trouble.

Thanks for the reply
