I have a 2003 VIP with 350 Mercruiser. Boat runs great on smooth water but dies immediately when I encounter wake from another boat or chopy water. Could someone please tell me where to start troubleshooting?

Re: Engine dies in rough water

Had a similar thing happen to me a few years ago. It turned out to be water in my fuel. When I called my mechanic and described my problem to him he told me it was water in the fuel. I guess the choppy conditions must have stirred things up in the tank. At any rate, he replaced the cartridge in my fuel/water separator and the issue was resolved.

loose wires, loose/corroded main harness plug.If you suspect electrical , rig up a panal light to the + side of the coil. catch a wave,no light =no power.
