Engine dimensions needed

I am re-installing the engine in my Stamas. She has been out for 4 years. It is a 5.8 FLPHUR engine. The reason I am looking for the external dimensions is I had done such a good job cleaning up my stringers, cleaning out rot and refilling as well as painting bilge, I can not see where the engine mounts were. I would like to get the mounts close before swinging it. The previous owner used galvanized lag screws as mount bolts into the stringers. Since I have no wood left in the stringers at the mounting point, just the resin, glass and fillers, is there a recommended way of setting the bolts into the stringers? I am toying with the idea of going over the stringers with aluminum L or C channel, bolting them to the stringers then drill and tapping into them and use stainless threaded bolts and nuts.

Any Ideas or comments are always entertained and or accepted.

Re: Engine dimensions needed

Just install the engine back in, get your trusty alignment bar and align the engine. Once you get it close, bolt it down and recheck the alignment and make the final adjustments.

Stringers are taken care of over in the Boat Restoration, Building, and Hull Repair forum.
