Hey guys, first time posting here.

First of all, I looked through over 10 pages of articles to find an answer and no help, so dont yell at me lol :D

I bought my first boat about a month ago. It is a 1985 Sea Arrow. I started working on it immediately and so far so good. I guess its one of those rare boats or something, cause I cant find much information on it, but anywho....

It has a 5.7 Mercruiser i/o. I put the earmuffs on it to start it the other day, just for fun, and was checking out the engine and noticed that water was coming out of 2 holes on the block, right about the oil pan. I am supposing that these are the drain plugs.

Does anybody know where I can get replacements?

Thanks in advance for everybody's help. Love the forums. Lots of good information here!!

Howdy,

Welcome to iBoats!

Well, it depends on how much water is coming out.

If it's a LOT that means that your core-plugs have possibly been pushed out by water freezing inside.

If that's the case, you'll need to replace them....Any auto parts store will have them..... the easy way will be to get a couple of rubber (temporary) plugs.

Then, you'll need to determine if your block is cracked.

OTOH, if the drain plugs were removed for winterizing and that's where the water is coming from, you just need to replace them.

Just use brass pipe plugs that will fit, from any hardware store.

Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. Ya, water is pouring out pretty fast, i can see threads in there, just looks like something needs to be screwed in there to stop it. Do you happen to know what size they are?1/4 sound right?
