So the coupler went bad. Looking at the engine coupler I need, Sierra 18-2323 it gives the option of buying with or without yoke? My engine is a remanufactured from Michigan Motors from 2008. Is there a way to tell if I have the old style yoke or new?

Ayuh,..... You've got the drive off, what's the splines look like on the shaft,..??

If they look newish, 'n are still squarish on their tops, just get the coupler,.....

Did ya find the reason the coupler blew out,..??

Did the splines tear out, or the rubber break free of the steel,..??

Ah Yes the drive and engine is out. The splines look good. Not sure why it failed. The rubber broke free alright, i have little rubber pieces flung all over the engine compartment. The forward engine support frame was ripped on both sides where it attaches to the boat. I am not sure if this bracket is original. It is made of 1/8 inch aluminum C channel with the same sized flat pieces constructed for the bracket. So i am having one remade made out of heaver material 1/4 inch. Do you think broken bracket could of been the cause? Since the engine was replaced in 2008 by previous owner. I don't know if he installed new coupler with engine if not the coupler would have been 17 years old. Should coupler last longer?
