My boat is LOUD! I have a marine gas powered V8 in my boat. It is a cruiser. I want comfortable cruising. There are times I would actually like to hear what my wife has to say. Sometimes I want to hear her on the boat. When I am running at cruising speed it is difficult to carry on a conversation.
I was wondering if anyone in here has had experience adding a wet muffler to their exhaust system. What effect did it have? I have a single output raw water open exhaust system.

Re: Engine exhaust noise

I have never added a muffler to an existing system but have worked and ridden on a few boats that have them.. It will quiet it down quite a bit. although an engine running 3500 rpm or so is mechanically quite loud, not to mention the exhaust noise.. sound deadening material in the engine room will help alot also... don,t know what effect the muffler will have on performance ......

Check out these exhaust tips. scroll down to the bottom of the page. They offer slip-in exhaust silencers that go with the tips. At $80 it would be an inexpensive try.
