I have a 2003 Mercury 75. I put the boat in the water and ran up the lake about a mile, turned around and ran it back and the motor ran great, I stopped and fished for about an hour and decided to to go down the lake a little farther, the boat came up to plane and about 2000 yrds the motor fell flat on its face. I put it out of gear and it died, started it back up and ran up the lake towards the ramp and it ran fine. I stayed out to see if it would happen again and it did, ran good enough to bring front of boat up but not enough to plane out. Acts like to me it is not getting enough fuel. Any suggestions as what to look for.

Clear and open venting of fuel tank.
Good, one way fuel flow through fuel line check valves.
Clean and functional carburetor needle valve.

I think I will start with the primer bulb it does seem to loose prime in it after sitting a couple days, so the check valve may be bad in it.

My problem was the fuel filter. The previous owner had not had the boat out in about 2 years and the fuel varnished in the the line. When I ran it the varnish broke loose and clogged the filter, it looked like saw dust. I flushed the lines and replaced filter and it runs great now.

No I have not. May I ask why? I am asking because I dont know. I do have a good stream of water coming out and when I bought the boat he had a new one with it so changing it is a matter of just doing it.
