Hi,
Just after, and I mean Just, after changing my carburator and straiting out my linkage issues what happens???
My Oil level seems to be high. Quite high. I start my engine and let it idle for a minuite. Recheck oil and now its really high... and starting to get milky.
I haven't been in the water this year. It has been 2 weeks trying to get a marine carb installed (to replace the existing automotive one) and throttle linkage corrected - so its been started a good few times on muffs trying to dial in the carb. Oil level was good initally. And from the fast rate the water is entering the oil I think whatever failed did so just now and in fine style. Engine was "supposed" to have been winterized as the outdrive was rebuilt by a local boat shop last year at the end of the season and they performed this after the outdrive was rebuilt -and I paid for it to be winterized.
I was supposed to lauch the boat tomorrow. Now it seems like the whole year, or perhaps boating as a whole may be out for me as every time I try to correct an issue another jumps up to take its place. The timing on this was was just ridiculous.
Any body have a outline on how to test and determine the cause? Compresion test I'm guessing. I heard of people saying leak down - but I'm not sure waht that entails. Which are the usual suspects for water getting into the engine base when running on muffs? I gotta go cry OR get a hammer and punch a S*&T load of holes in the hull to end my pain ..... not sure which yet.
Thanks,
