Engine Flushing ???

When flushing an engine on ear muffs, should water be coming from the telltale hole? If not what potential problem does this indicate? Had boat out on lake for the last couple of days and ran decent, decided to flush engine when we got home (1st time I've ever done this and not sure if I'm doing it right) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes! the engine should be "peeing" on muffs! Make sure you are covering the intake holes on your LU with the muff cups and that there is enough water pressure coming from the hose (not kinked anywhere) and the spicket is turned all the way on, Idle speed only on muffs.

Thanks, should it be peeing before the engine is cranked or after it is cranked.

I don't really see the need to flush after being on a freshwater lake.

engines only pee when the motor is on. but freshwater only shouldnt need to do that less you sunk your intake in heavy mud or something and for that you would need to do something other than a simple garden hose flush.

Thanks for the help. Water in Lake Hartwell is murky in some areas. Maybe being overly cautious, too much $$$ to be peeing away.
