Re: engine gas

Howdy, Bobbit. Where in the world did you get that information??? Your engine should run fine on fresh 87 octane, unleaded, no alcohol petrol in a 50:1 mix or with VRO loaded with premium 2 stroke oil.

Leaded gasoline was illegal in 50 states well before 1985.

Good luck.
JB

Re: engine gas

Actually JB, leaded gas, in Washington State anyhow was legal until 1994-1995. (Had a muscle car until then, and never had to put unleaded in it.) But anyhow 87 octane should be no problem... wouldn't go any higher octane than that though.

WILL

Why no higher octane? I didn't know there was a problem with using too higher octane in an engine? We in the UK, like the chap from Sweden, have Unleaded 95 here as the lowest quality fuel - mind you we pay enough for the stuff!!!

Re: engine gas

I doubt that using higher octane would cause a problem, Will. Why pay extra if there is no benefit? See the lengthy exchange of ideas on this subject,"Octane", from a few weeks ago.

SeaBear, I suspect that octane rating is calculated differently in the U.K., but I can't quote the difference.

Smooth waters to you.
JB
