98 J50ESTLS. Can anyone help me locate and replace the blocking diode on the tan wire? Manual states it is 10 1/2inches from Deutsch connector. I have identified the Deutsch connector and have looked as best I can without starting to take things apart. I'm really not sure what it even looks like! Do I need to remove parts to get to it? Any help is sure appreciated.

Re: Engine Harness Blocking Diode

Ralphy,The blocking diode is about the same size as the wire it is inline with.It is likely wrapped in the harness sheathe or heatshrink. It is basically a beebee size ceramic semi\conductor with a solid wire protruding out either end. You'll have to expose the wire to find it.

Ralphy You have to cut into the wire harness to see the diode.Since you need to replace it,buy one from your dealer.I am pretty sure it comes with good instructions.
DHP

If you don't mind a followup question, what symptoms led you to replacing the diode?

thansk,
jtw

Excellent question jtexas and a classic example of what happens when the original post is not replied to.See the topic " Shimmy and shake at mid rpms."
