the engine hood I have is extremely heavy and to keep it open I use a pole. Not really trustworthy, does anyone have a better and more reliable invention on this?

Thanks for your help.

We are talking about the doghouse right. Mine has the hinge on the deck (floor) and it flips forward. You might consider doing a change of the hinge locations. When I do a service or tune up I unscrew the hinges and move the doghouse and that leaves lots of room to work. It's easy to line up when I put the doghouse back and go boating.

consider making a simple prop out of wood with a "fork" at the end to keep it from slipping off, or hold it in place with quick-release alum pins. my doghouse is held down by cam latches but just lifts off or slides forward when those are removed.

where do you use your boat?
