I am looking at purchasing a boat with a 2004 Yamaha 115 2 stroke and the guy says boat has 190 hours, is that low hours, the boat and engine look excellent
That's roughly 15 hours per year. Probably only used on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, if that much.
Lack of use causes more damage than boating every weekend. Be prepared to spend some money on the motor to replace deteriorated parts like the impeller, carbs and hoses.
Is it true that 1 worked hour is equivalent to 100 miles/kilometers whichever is rated ? 3K run hours seems too much, conservedly would give 2K max, as the rings and cylinder walls wears OB will be hard to turn ON, less compression issue while other internal components still are in good shape. My 2 strokes OB has 850 metered worked hours and runs top due to receiving periodic general maintenance.
