Engine I.D.?

I bought a Mercruiser 270 engine recently, the I.D. tag has rusted (gone)it's a complete marine engine. Is there somewhere on block to get I.D.-----Casting# is 3970010 ?

You might try going through the stern drive or transom numbers.

the guy i got the engine from did'nt have boat or outdrive-------thank you for reply

Casting# is 3970010 ?

You've got a SBC,....302(Doubtfully),... 327,.... Or a 350.... Build between 1969,+ 1980........<br /><br />And,.. It Probably has a Rochester 4bbl. carb......
