hey i realy need to know if merc stamps the numbers on the engine some where other than the tag on the yoke ? need some way to date this engine merc 25 somewhere in the 80s im told by owner.............
ok sence nobody knows i called mercury. they said maybe, there might be, posably could, under certain motors should have a number stamped under the cylinder head .....if its the right year sould absolutely be there ...maybe WTF I have to pull the head for a maybe could be
no but thank you bear I have this list but cant find any numbers on the motor, tag is gone.I cant find any way to date this engine dont even have a model number this sucks.......but thanks you anyway

Bkusa<br /><br />I reckon it's a 1982.<br />Serial no's are tricky as Australian, European, Canadian, and USA all start with different no's so the charts mean very little.<br />I have been trying to find my year for ages as it's an Aussie no.<br />This is a reply I got from a Merc site and it seems to be the most accurate. That is the reason for all the questions.<br /><br />"Have a Merc 50 (not 500) Australian ser 8055895<br />4 cyl - 2 blue bands.
