Hi everyone I just got a 1988 Forrester Escape 190. The engine is a 4cyl OMC but it has no other marking other than OMC. is there any way to find out which engine this is, I want to re-build it over the winter.
Well there were two 4 cylinders in 1988 (model year of boat and engine are not necessarily the same). The 2.3 liter is a Ford engine. The 3.0 liter is a Chevy and a picture will straighten the question out . . .
Thanks for the info QC. I will take some pics in the morning and post them. I am thinking it may be a ford it has a removable to the able side cover similar to the older ford 6 cyl car engines.
